A Child's Garden of Verses

Summary

Robert Louis Stevenson's book of verses for children catches the way a child sees a bed that is a boat, a shadow that follows, a swing, a night when it is still light outside. It includes Bed in Summer, My Shadow, The Land of Counterpane and The Lamplighter. This book uses the racial and other slurs of its period as written; the Book Guide explains these words where they occur.
