انکل ٹامز کیبن (چچا ٹام کا جھونپڑا) امریکی مصنفہ ہیریئٹ بیچر اسٹو کا مشہور ناول ہے جو 1852ء میں شائع ہوا اور غلامی کے خلاف ایک مؤثر ادبی ہتھیار ثابت ہوا۔ ناول سیاہ فاموں پر ہونے والے جبر پر مبنی ناول ہے۔ جنوبی ریاستوں میں پابندی کے باوجود یہ ناول امریکا میں 18 لاکھ اور برطانیہ میں ایک رائے کے مطابق 10 لاکھ اور دوسری رائے کے مطابق 15 لاکھ فروخت ہوا۔ دنیا بھر میں 30 سے 40 لاکھ تک فروخت ہونے والا یہ ناول دوسرا عالمی بیسٹ سیلر ناول بن گیا۔ جبکہ یہ امریکا کاپہلا بیسٹ سیلر ناول تھا۔ ناول کی مانگ اس قدر زیادہ تھی کہ اسے کئی ممالک میں چھاپنا پڑا۔ 1987ء میں ایک ٹی وی سیریل سامنے آیا، 1903ء میں پہلی فلم بنی۔ کم از کم چھ فلمیں اسی کہانی کے گرد گھومتی ہیں۔ یہ کتاب اپنے زمانے کے نسلی اور دیگر توہین آمیز الفاظ کو جیسے لکھے گئے تھے ویسے ہی برقرار رکھتی ہے؛ ’کتاب رہنما‘ ان الفاظ کی جہاں وہ آئیں وضاحت کرتی ہے۔
