Summary
Koning Lear (Engelse titel: King Lear) is een toneelstuk van Shakespeare dat voor het eerst op 26 december 1606 werd opgevoerd in Whitehall Palace voor de Engelse koning Jacobus I. Shakespeare schreef het kort na Othello (1603/1604) en voor Macbeth (1606). Samen met Hamlet worden deze stukken genoemd als zijn vier grootste tragedies. Dit boek bevat gewelddadige scènes zoals de auteur ze heeft geschreven.
