Wilhelm Hauff's frame tale in J. W. Eggleton's Esperanto translation. Merchants crossing the desert take a mysterious stranger into their caravan and pass the evenings telling stories, among them Caliph Stork, the Ghost Ship, the Severed Hand and Little Muck, fairy tales in the manner of the Thousand and One Nights. This book uses the racial and other slurs of its period as written; the Book Guide explains these words where they occur.
