Chaudhri Muhammad Ali Radaulvi's Ataliq Bibi (about 1923) is a set of fourteen humorous sketches adapted from Douglas Jerrold's Curtain Lectures, the nightly scoldings Mrs Caudle gives her husband, moved into an Urdu household. Each chapter is one evening's lecture, set off by a verse and a mishap such as a trip to the fair. This book uses the racial and other slurs of its period as written; the Book Guide explains these words where they occur.
