La Parada

Summary
The title novella follows a band of boys on the coast as they set out with birdlime and decoys for a great autumn bird hunt, an adventure that turns into a lesson about friendship and growing up. It is followed by shorter stories of youth and memory, a comic tale of seminarians awaiting the end of the world in Girona, and a long folk tale about a man never content with his lot. A glossary of the dialect words Ruyra uses closes the book. This book uses the racial and other slurs of its period as written; the Book Guide explains these words where they occur.
