El alcalde de Zalamea
Credits: Pedro Calderón de la Barca (author)
Summary
When a captain dishonours the daughter of the wealthy peasant Pedro Crespo, and Crespo is made mayor of Zalamea, he arrests the officer and demands justice. Calderón's play sets the honour of a common man against the privilege of the army.
